Malted bread + crispy bacon + brown sauce.

The moment I find any of that over here, I'll let you know...

I don't have a recipe but you should make breakfast muffins..

Butter some bread and then line some muffin tins or some other metal cooking thingy with it. Butter side down.

Chuck some bacon, cheese, mushrooms or any other breakfast kinda stuff in.

Crack an egg on top

Chuck in the oven and bake :D

they can get dry so you have to play around with making them for a while. If you can get them so that the egg sits thinly across the top you can put the egg on towards the end and cook it so the yolk is still runny :D

God Im hungry now.

Hungry for a McDonald's bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit now. (That'll be an American biscuit - a soft, buttery scone of sorts.) I make this sometimes with what Americans call English muffins, sold in Germany as "Toasties." Toast the muffin, fry up some bacon and an egg, fold the egg so it'll fit on the muffin, add a slice of cheese - a simple morning sandwich to eat on the go.

I don't have a recipe to share but there is a place in Philadelphia that has a bacon taco shell currently. I might eat there when I'm back in the U.S. next month.

Interesting about bacon taco shells. But if you want bacon in your taco, why not just stick bacon in your taco?

Edit: Should move this post to a food innuendo thread :P

That brings to mind my perennial favorite, fried apples 'n' onions with bacon bits.

Fried Apples 'n' Onions

post-4788-13598176345994.jpg

1/2 pound diced bacon

2 pounds of onions

2 pounds of apples (tart and firm)

2 tbsp. brown sugar (optional)

Brown the bacon bits, set aside

Cut the onions in thin slices, core the apples and cut them in thicker slices (leave the peel on, it helps keep the rings in shape)

Sautée the onions in the bacon fat

Add the apple slices when the onions have become translucent

Cover and cook until tender (optional: sprinkle with brown sugar), stirring only to prevent scorching

Add the bacon bits to warm them up

Serves six

My parents live about 5 minutes from the Loveless Cafe. Best country ham and biscuits in the South! Many country stars eat there, and it's always crowded. Anything you eat from there is delish!

The bacon bowl looks awesome! But isn't 16 strips of bacon a bit more than the RDA? :o

This is the real bacon thread, not the fake, turkey bacon thread. Not even close to being the same thing. Next it will be tofu bacon.

All this talk of bacon is just rubbing salt in the wound! I tried for a long time in vain to find decent bacon here but to no avail. Has anyone had better luck?

Sara, believe it or not I remember first reading about Fried Apples & Onions with Bacon in Laura Ingalls Wilder's "Farmer Boy".

It sounded delicious and certainly wasn't something my mom ever made. I do make it occasionally, but haven't for quite a while.

Perfect comfort food in the winter. Thanks for the reminder!!!

I have the Laura Ingalls Cookbook, that's where the recipe is from. Great food in there, lots of "from scratch" recipes.
