Moving To Vilseck

Hi everyone!

Like my topic says i'm moving to Vilseck at the end of this month. YAY me!. Needless to say I am in the military but dont judge me right off that. This isn't my first time living overseas. I previously lived in South Korea and i discovered i would rather have friends not in the Military. I just don't fit in with the whole macho military thing. So if anyone would like to get to know me so i can have some new friends, that would be great! Im currently living on the East coast in Washington, Very gloomy and rainy non-stop.

Danke!

Hi Dustin,

I curently work in Grafenwoehr near Vilseck as a Telecommunications Specialist (contractor) for the military. Sorry, I don't ski and really don't know how to. Perhaps we could meet one day!

Hi . Thanks for the reply. I am always down for grabbing a beer or something.

and also I feel like I came off kinda bad in my intro, I just would rather have friends that i don't work with as well as i dont get along with military people who think they are gods gift to women and i cant stand the ones that would rather sit around and play video games instead of getting out and seeing their adopted country.

-Cheers,

Dustin "Chuck"

Dustin; I am a retired military officer who has lost a contract and am living on the economy. It is hard and very expensive but Vilsek is not a bad area. I was a contractor in Graf for a year and even though it was OberFalz, it was not a bad year. The train to Nurnberg is quick, and goes every day until 0100. Go out and see the sights. If you need any recommendations let me know.

If you are interested in history, or art, or music, or handcrafts, or camping trips, or museums, or martial arts, check out the local SCA group. They are a lot of fun, and pretty active around Vilseck.

The local webpage is in German (use Google Translate) http://turmstadt.de/wordpress/

This explains the group in English http://www.scademo.com/

They advertise on Base now and again, but are a real mix of military and (mostly) local civilians. They communicate mostly in English, and everyone understands it.
