hello, i have used picmonkey for some time and realized yesterday it turned out "premium". the most important effects i use are all in premium subscription now. when picknik was closed, i found picmonkey. now i have to find another free online photo editor. can you please recommend yours? thanks in advance.

Hi,

I've always used "picasa" when in a rush. It's free and easy to use :)

All other times I use a *cough* copy of CS5

I second Gimp. I've used it before and love it.

The Gimp is good. I've used it for many years and have always been happy with it.

If you want tweak your photos, i.e. crop, brighten, sharpen, etc. Paint.Net on Windows, Pinta on Linux, is a small, fast and free and capable program that starts very quickly. More suitable if you don't need the full painting and effects toolset every time.

I second Pixlr. Install the Mozilla/Chrome extension.

I use pixlr for a fast cropping or to add some text when I'm making a placeholder .jpg. It is very easy to use and you don't have to download anything. All web based.

Faststone also gets my vote - very intuitive to use, and has all the basic functions you need (including some effects, if that's what you want).
