Hi guys, wondering if anyone can recommend a good seafood restaurant in Hamburg either Eimsbüttel/Eppendorf way or near harbour.

I know there are many, just wondering if any seafood aficionado's have a place to recommend? I am looking for some decent fresh lobster, oysters etc without the prices being through the roof.

Cheers, appreciate any help :)

If you go down to Grosse Elbstrasse, there are many seafood restaurants that look like old warehouses.

The sell seafood and fish to take away but also serve many dishes of very fresh fish and seafood.

I prefer the Atlantik (their site sucks : http://www.atlantik-fisch.de , so check here : http://www.qype.com/place/59103-Atlantik-Fisch-Meeresspezialitaeten-Hamburg )

They also have ties to Ireland (they own a vacation home there, and import lots of stuff liek Donegal Oysters).

If you go a bit further down the road you can also find the famous Hummer Pedersen : http://www.hummer-pedersen.de/

a bit more expensive but is nicer. The food is also great. I recommend the Hummer-Pedersen Spezialteller

(2 scallops, 2 king prawns ,and your choice of fish fillet (salmon, tuna, zander, etc) plus salat and sauce for 14.90.

In the area you can also find the very expensive seafood restaurants (like Fischreihafen)

Thanks a lot!

I see mostly very good reviews for Hummer-Pedersen. Not the most romantic looking place in the world but 16€ per half lobster and 2€ per oyster sounds pretty good to me.

Well looks like Hummer Pedersen is only open until 18:00. Rock n roll.

The search continues..

Hummer Pedersen is pretty decent, especially if you sit on the top floor.

Atlantik is even cheaper but as I said it looks like a warehouse (certainly worth a visit though. Also if you like mussels, during the mussel season, he makes the best, the person portion is huge and costs about 10 euros).

Next to them there are others as well, but from the ones I tried (about 2/3 of them, these 2 are the best).

On the same road you can also find Frische Paradies : http://www.frischeparadies.de/

The best delicatessen super market in Hamburg, excellent meat and fish (including about 10 different types of Oysters)

Thanks but I'm looking more for a restaurant to take my girlfriend, not so keen on warehouses or any place that closes before sunset.

Fischereihafen is very good indeed, and if you're lucky you can do a lot of promi-spotting there (even though they tend to get bundled off to a private room)

And I had some pretty darn decent sushi (and excellent Kaiserschmarren) at NIDO (if you fancy a weird bit of austro-asian cuisine).

I would be very disappointed if H&H wasn't the best sushi in HH at that price ;)

Interested to try it but really am just looking for a restaurant that does lobster and oysters etc (for a reasonable price)

Hi, you should pop don to the Portuguese viertel next to harbour... There are quite a lot of fish restaurants down there. There is one on the corner but I can't remember the name (sorry) and its lovely... Good prices for great food.

Found site instead... http://www.churrascaria-ofrango.de/

There is another restaurant over the road on the other corner that is just as nice :)

Yes, Portuguese!

http://www.churrascaria-ofrango.de/ Better reservation for weekend or Friday evening.

At the same quarter there's another very good one, as "english lass in HH" has written. I need to find its name, it is always full.

BUT there's also a horrible Spanish Restaurant too. It is at the corner, I can't remember the name, but be aware, they are so slow, it has nothing to do with real Spanish food and dishes are very sad. We happened to be there cause these first two were full..

Oh! In Eimsbüttel there's this Greek Restaurant Xenios, where I usually eat Gefüllte Calamari or Salmon. Of course they're frozen (that's what I think, I am not sure), but it's ok.

Staff is really friendly but the owner is a bit.. different. You may enjoy it, give a try :-)
