Hallo Scots (and others interested),

Next year sees the 250th anniversary of the birth of Rabbie Burns, the national poet of Scotland. There has been some discussion about celebrating this momentous event with a traditional Burns Supper.

Burns Supper

Dauth Schneider (Sachenhausen)

Sunday 25th January at 12:00

Kilts invited!

Since many people have bairns (to non-Scots this means children), it was decided to try a less-than traditional Burns Mittagessen on a Sunday afternoon. The lucky ones without this disadvantage in life will be free to continue celebrating for the rest of the day!!

To get a idea of how many Haggii will be required, we would like to have an idea of who will be there.

Please PM me if you would like to come along and please include the number of mouths (both big and small) that have to be fed, so that we can plan accordingly. We have it on very good authority that Paul from Dauth Schneider is an excellent Haggis cook and it should be a good afternoon.

On the lighter side, there are numerous academics arguing about the plural of Haggis, try this link http://haggishunt.scotsman.com/haggisclopedia.cfm?part=2.

The event is of course primarily aimed at Scots and families around Frankfurt, but anyone is welcome. Native Englishmen might however have to be prepared for the usual friendly abuse (if you know the England vs Scotland relationship). But of course all meant in the best loving spirit...

We very much look forward to seeing you on the 25th January 2009.

Best regards, and have a great Christmas holiday.

Annette, Bent & Murray

(on behalf of the organising committee)

No more interested parties?

Sounds like a great time, but it falls on Frau Expaticus' birthday.

Have fun.

Frau Expaticus would be welcome too.

Even sure we would sing her a birthday song!

Random thought time:

Breakfast + Lunch = Brunch

Ipso facto

Lunch + Supper = Lupper

Therefore, surely this should henceforth be referred to as the Frankfurt Burns Lupper

Maybe

It's time again, dear friends.

A year has passed, and the annual celebration of Robert Burns' birthday is fast approaching. Again this year, we shall gather at Dauth-Schneider in Alt-Sachsenhausen, where Paul & Claire will prepare a feast Haggis, neeps and tatties dinner for us.

The dinner takes place on Sunday, 31st January 2010, starting at 13:00. Price per adult for Haggis is ca. € 15, whilst children pay € 8. Of course you can order off the menu as well.

As the Haggis needs to be ordered, we MUST HAVE your SIGN-UP very latest 19/1. This means reply here, but also pm to me with names and numbers of participants. Guys in kilts are of course especially welcome!

Of course we will have some whiskies you can sample for a pittance, so catching a train might be a very good idea!

Very much looking forward to seeing you. Keep them sign-ups coming.

A kind reminder to sign up by very latest 19/1, so the Haggis can be ordered.

So far we have 24 adults and 9 children.

BobD, as I held the address to the lasses last year, would you consider doing it this year? Please let me know.
