Hmmmm, although vegan "cheese" may contain soy, it is not tofu. Non-animal rennet is an alternative that does the same thing to milk as the animal product. But vegans shun dairy. So...

It's like this: Just bring a few quality English books you've already read to swap for new. Bios, fiction, history, travel (or DVDs) ... whatever you think your fellow ex-pats might find interesting (don't bring any you figure NOBODY would want). The books will be categorized for easy perusal: Fiction, Non-Fiction, Classics, Academic, Children's books, Travel, DVDs, Other.

Perry has kindly set aside a conference room for us in the hotel (if you can't find us, ask at the desk in the lobby), refreshments will probably be available for purchase.

Last Swap about 15 of us went to a cafe afterwards to get a bite and to socialize. We'll probably repeat that.

I can add to that. My bicycle was chained to a post well off the road overnight when it was rammed in the wee hours by a drunk parker who then backed up and parked somewhere else. A neighbour I'd never met witnessed the whole thing, took down the license number and noticed where the guy parked. She left a note on my devastated bike and her phone number. I was able to make a claim with the guy's insurance company that almost paid for a replacement. Grateful was I!

Dessa, do the German thing: Tell her to her face in no uncertain terms what you think of her and why. She'll respect you. Really, she will. Worked for me.

Maybe(?) you have had loved ones killed and/or injured on the roads but venting your anger and sorrow on me is not going to change a damn thing. If know you feel strongly about these episodes in your lives. You should try to come to terms with them and realise that time it a great healer. One day you will understand why they happened but don’t look for blame where it cannot be apportioned or warranted."

Does this sound like a sane person? I'm speechless.

We can compare pictures! My 20-month-old at the time smeared the pot all over the floor-length mirror during nap-time. Cuuuute.

By the way, she's now 18.
Recently I smelled my opium perfume, (which was a gift from a Verehrer from before I was married and was only on display in the bathroom because I could *never in my life* ever afford another bottle)... so anyway I smelled the fragrance from my office down the hall. Walking towards the bathroom, the scent concentrating with each step of the way, I discover the broken bottle in the wastebasket.

She *only* wanted to mask the stink, mum.

  14. canadianinberlin added a post in a topic: English translations for "Ein Hauch von Leben"

I think Wisp of Life would be most appropriate conveying life that had barely started. "Ein Hauch" is "slight/barely there". I do believe Breath of Life would lend a cemetery for stillborns an unintentional element of mockery.
