I see a good English-speaking psychiatrist at the Uniklinik (http://psychiatrie.uniklinikum-leipzig.de/) who prescribes an anti-depressant for me. There are about 5 there that speak English well enough to treat native English speakers. It is really difficult to make an appointment there because they have one secretary and she rarely answers the ringing phone. I had to physically go to the clinic to make am appointment, and they choose the doctor for you (just specify an English speaker). You also need a referral from your regular doctor to see a therapist or psych doctor.

Edited: I just saw that you also need an English speaking house doctor? If so, I see Dr. Karsten Bernerth (http://www.hausarzt-leipzig.net/?lang=en). He is an *awesome* doctor and speaks great English. It took me over a year of trial and error to find a good English speaking doctor here in Leipzig, and I have seen him half a dozen times - he is really really good.

You are unlikely to find a regular doctor here to prescribe anti-depressants, even with records and a current prescription. I tried that with a few doctors here in Leipzig and they weren't willing to prescribe outside their specialty.

If you need any other help finding English speaking services here, you can contact me. I've been in Leipzig a little over 2 years now and can recommend dental and other English speaking services :)

Welcome OCG from a fellow SoCal girl in Germany. Don't let the jaded TT veterans who have to nitpick your every word scare you away. Sometimes American English (and especially Southern Californian lingo) gets taken the wrong way in these forums! Now that you have been properly "jumped in" by them, I'll say it wasn't as stupid a question as many people are getting on your back about. Coming from 1/2 a world away, and a continent that gets zero European news and is insulated by the US nanny government, all questions are legit, even if they sound naive to Europeans EVERYTHING is different here!
