This continues to be a great season for wintersports in Munich. The forecast is for temperatures to remain below zero for the rest of the week. So instead of spending your evenings in a smoke filled bar, why not get out on the ice and practice some curling? This is a great way to spend an evening with friends. Curling originates in Scotland but is known locally as Eisstockschiessen. There are lanes on the Nymphenburger Canal in Neuhausen, see: eisstockbahnen.de. They are open daily 9am - 10pm. An evening game costs €5 and Glühwein is €2.50.

Isnt curling the sport where sweeping with a broom is involved. Sounds suspiciously like housework :-(

Does anyone know if they rent equipment there or do you have to bring your own? Looking for a few more curlers to play this weekend. Need at least 2 teams and we only have 1 and 1/2. I am willing to teach anyone new.

The €5 includes rental. It's only €2.50 if you have your own kit.

A bit late now, but yes Mara, the people at Nymphenburg do rent out the Stöcke. 2.50 Euros, I think.
