Just as you're recovering from the Starkbierfest and you're thinking there can't possibly be any more "Fests" in Munich until October, along comes another one. Yep, this Friday sees the opening of the Frühlingsfest Theresienwiese (Spring Festival). It takes place at the Oktoberfest site for two weeks (Friday 15th April - Sunday 1st May 2005). There are two beer tents with daily live music, Europe's largest mobile go-kart track, Europe's longest mobile slide, and various other fairground carousels. One highlight is the Giant flea market on Saturday 16th April. Get there early to pick up the best bargains and avoid the madding crowds. Other highlights are the firework displays which take place on the middle and final Fridays (22nd and 29th around 9 or 10pm). The festival is open daily from 11am til 11pm.

Went 18th Apr 2004. It's kind of a mini Oktoberfest sans vomit.
