Brauhaus Mitte is a German restaurant and brewpub is located in the heart of East Berlin, across the street from the Fernsehturm (which graces its logo). They brew four of their own very good beers: a pilsner, a hefeweizen, a dunkel, and one rotating seasonal. The food is an assortment of specialties from around Germany, ranging from Berliner Eisbein to Swabian Käsespätzle and including separate sections for Bavarian food and sausages.
They also serve Weisswurst, which makes it an option for a late Bavarian breakfast. Traditionalists should go in the window between 11am, when they open, and noon, after which Weisswurst is not supposed to be eaten, although they offer it all day in case you're an iconoclast.

I have been there a few times and it's OK, but if I want a Munich Brauhaus, I'll wait until I'm in Munich. If you want a micro-brewery cum pub, why not try Georg Bräu in the Nikolaiviertel? Situated on the river bank. Nice beer, nice food. Spreeufer 4 10178 Berlin-Mitte S+U Alexanderplatz
Posted by: Supergill at 1:41 pm on 8.May.2007If you have folk visiting Berlin this place is great. Cheap and cheerful, typical German and German food and only 3 Euro for half a lite quality beer. I like it to meet folk on a Sat afternoon.
Posted by: Deccie at 5:08 pm on 8.May.2007In Berlin to visit my son. Excellent meal and the service was very good. Not speaking German did not prove a problem, but as usual try the little you know and you find the Berliners happy to fill in the rest.
