Schiffergesellschaft is reckoned to be the oldest restaurant in Germany, dating back to the 16th century, this beautiful building was originally the home of the 'Schiffergesellschaft' and profits from the restaurant are still used to support seamen fallen on hard times. The interior is very dark and bedecked with wooden model ships and other memorabilia and there is a mix of long 'banquet-style' bare wooden tables and smaller ones for two/four people.
Inevitably it is a prime tourist destination, but it's still a good place to go. The food is very good and not overpriced, the staff are friendly and service is swift and efficient. Always busy.Another 'must do' in Lübeck. Details of menus, location etc. are all on the website.
