La Cantina Restaurant, located at the end of S-1 (Plochingen) S-bahn line is by far the best restaurant for fine food in the greater surrounding areas of Stuttgart. The restaurant, which seats approximately 30 people, offers superb sea food, game and mediteranean dishes which are prepared fresh for you by the Chef and owner himself, Daniel Leibsle, so bring a little patience along with your appetite and enjoy the sumptious meals at the restaurant. To compliment your superb meal, you can choose from an extensive wine list offering bottles of Italian, French or German wines or if undecided, you can also order the house wine by the glass. La Cantina is open from Tuesday thru Saturday, from 1130 to 1400 hrs and from 1830 to the time the last satisfied customer leaves the restaurant. The basic menu changes monthly; the daily menu, depending on what is fresh and available that day from the local gourment market, changes every day. Lunchtime meals consist of a set menu of either soup or salad, and a selection of pastas with homemade sauces.I would highly recommend both soup and salad and a pasta for a noontime meal and a good glass of Italian house wine and an espresso cafe to finish-up the noon meal. Evening meals are served a la carte where you select from the menu and my biggest problem with the evening meals in deciding what delicasies to choose from. When available, I always select a fresh tuna fish garpacho with salad in the middle and decorated with drops of wassabi sauce around the edge of the plate,Mmmmmm,"its out of this world". Normally offered for the main course is the fresh fish catch of the day, lamb, beef, and fowl dishes served with english-style potatoes, noodles or rice, fresh vegetables, and a variety of homemade desert. I have been eating regularly now at this restaurant for over 6 years and seldom does the menu repeat itself. If your a gourmet or a person that just wants to taste excellent food without having to pay an arm or leg for, than I HIGHLY recommend La Cantina for an eating experience you will never forget. Prices for noon meals vary between 8-12 Euros; Evening from 9 to 21 Euros per meal, excluding drinks. Located just three walking minutes from the Plochingen Train station to Esslinger Strasse, La Cantina is located next to Zannetti's Italian ice cream diehle. Tel: 07153-89089
P.S. I just moved to Munich and the only thing I truly miss here is the "La Cantina" restaurant in Plochingen, (near Stuttgart) Germany.

La Cantina is not to be confused with party bar/restaurant Cantina in the Schellingstr. http://www.cantina-stuttgart.de/
