Open since sometime late summer of 2007, Coffee Fellows scored the best location - directly on the corner of the Mannheim Markplatz. Spanning at least 250 sqm, you have a choice of ample seating either in the front, lounge-like area or in another room with more table seating and tall-tables for groups of 10 or more. As their counterparts in other parts of Germany, Coffee Fellows offers a wide range of bagels, sandwiches, snacks, sweets and coffee. This time they got a leg up on Starbucks, beating them in the coffee-franchise expansion game.
A former resident of Munich, Coffee Fellows was always my top favorite. Still is. Welcome to Mannheim!
One tip: if you want a coffee, ask for it. It is not on the menu, but they do serve it. Also, they have a jug of water you can pour yourself to drink with your java.

Public transportation: From the MA train station, get out at Marktplatz if you take trams 7 (Vogelstang), 1 (Schönau), 3 (Sandhofen), or 5 (Heidelberg) or walk the 20+ minutes to get there.
