Amidst all the so called 'Greek' eateries in Germany, Avli is a rare authentic Greek restaurant located in the heart of Bochum. It is hidden in a lovely courtyard (great for eating outdoor during the warm summer nights) and the interior is as welcoming as the staff. Food is of a high quality. You can share a Meze platter with friends, try a traditional Greek casserole or take one of the specials which changes regularly. Fish is also popular here. But it's the lively friendly atmosphere which makes this place different. There is the obligatory ouzo at the end of the meal (it's free too!) and if you are lucky, the ouzo can be poured from any height into the glass (which could be placed on top of your head!). All in all, a fun place made even better by the food and hospitality. Check it out if you are in NRW at all!!
